POSITIVE 2014 BUSINESS PERFORMANCE

Metzingen. In 2014, the Storopack group of companies, which is represented at 60 locations in 17 countries, achieved a consolidated turnover of 353 million euros and finished the financial year with a positive result versus the previous year. The sales targets for 2014 were in fact exceeded. The beginning of the current fiscal year has also been positive for Storopack. The protective packaging specialists’ success is a result of continuous development of its product portfolio which is ideally suited to current market requirements.

In Europe, Storopack achieved a turnover of approx. 209 million euros, in North and South America, around 89 million euros and in Asia, close to 55 million euros. The company currently employs 2,402 people worldwide, including 645 in Germany (20 more than last year). Storopack is further strengthening its position as a solutions provider. Over and above the development of perfect protective packaging, its range of services includes ergonomics in packaging, as well as, increasing productivity of the packaging process, and improving its customers’ material flow.

Expanded market presence and country-specific sales expertise
Storopack is further expanding its presence in leading markets worldwide. In April 2014, Storopack acquired majority shares in the Action Specialty company that offers Loose Fill, paper padding, bubble wrap, and other cushioning systems in Florida. In July 2014, Storopack took over the Cleanpak company’s protective packaging product division in Tampa, Florida. Cleanpak produces and sells Loose Fill and other products such as BUBBLEplus® packaging film and MAILERplus® bubble envelopes.

With these acquisitions, Storopack is strengthening its market position in the US as a one-stop supplier of protective packaging solutions.

In October 2014, Storopack acquired its long-time Japanese trading partner EJ Co., Ltd. In Ebina/Kanagawa-Ken.

Effective January 1, 2015, Storopack acquired 100 percent shares of the Italian company Alternative 1999 s.r.l. in Cento/Ferrara province, with which Storopack has been partnering in the sales and distribution of PAPERplus® paper padding systems and AIRplus® air pillows since 1999, and marketing FOAMplus® foam cushion systems since 2008.

In the last year, Storopack achieved over a third of its turnover outside of Europe. With its local sales teams, it is ideally positioned to capitalize on in-depth knowledge and expertise in its respective markets.

Storopack acquired new customers in China and, following a relatively weak 2013, it succeeded in gaining ground in the Chinese market to close 2014 with positive results.

Over the last year, parallel to market expansion; Storopack once again introduced product innovations and product improvements to the market. Additionally, Storopack developed further system solutions for temperature-controlled transport, in view of offering a greater bandwidth especially to its customers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
