Molded packaging systems from Storopack provide the ideal protection for solar products which are both heavy and also sensitive, such as wafers, inverters, photovoltaic elements and solar panels.
Storopack develops, produces and sells made-to-measure technical molded parts and protective packaging systems made of expanded foams such as EPS (expanded polystyrene) and EPP (expanded polypropylene). The specific benefit we offer to the solar industry is reliable protection of products in transit. Our molded parts are also designed to permit simple, efficient configuration of the packaging process.
No matter what type of solar product you need to package – we can offer bespoke packaging solutions tailored specifically to your product. Whether silicon wafers, inverters, photovoltaic elements or solar panels: every type of product reaches its destination safely, making sure of a sunny reception from your customers.
Made-to-measure EPP molded parts designed for instance to slip over the top or bottom of the wafer provide an optimum protective cushion inside the cardboard box. Because of its excellent resilience, this material is highly suited for heavy but sensitive parts. Configuration of the molded packaging part with rounded corners ensures excellent shock absorption.
Individual molded packaging parts made of EPS: Using protective rails on the face ends and protective blocks along the sides of the modules, solar panels are certain to arrive safely at their destination. This packaging concept allows solar modules to also be simply grouped and stacked on pallets. Another way of providing added protection is to attach protective corners at the four outermost points.
Safe, reliable packaging of heavy devices featuring sensitive electronic components: Padding made of EPS can provide reliable protection of inverters against damage and shocks during transport. EPS is particularly pressure and impact-resistant, is capable of absorbing large amounts of energy and is extremely lightweight at the same time.
The secret of Styropor: It contains 98% air. This is encased by the surrounding polystyrene, which accounts for the remaining two per cent. While being very light, Styropor is also extremely strong and has excellent load-bearing properties.
Particle foams made of expanded polypropylene (EPP) are semi-hard to flexible thermoplastic synthetic foams consisting largely of closed cells.
EPP offers good mechanical attributes, and is notable for benefits such as high specific energy consumption, low compression set and capacity to withstand multiple impacts without appreciable loss of absorption characteristics.
Expandable polystyrene is composed of 98 % air and only 2 % polystyrene. Styropor® is produced without CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons) and HCFCs (Hydrochlorofluorocarbons). Its light weight helps to save fuel during transport. Styropor® is fully recyclable. Disposal into established recycle circuits helps to reduce use of virgin raw material.
